There's a reason Republican staffers called this guy the Anti-Christ. This is a good day for Illinois and Illinois Republicans. It will be even better when it finally gets to Lee himself.

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy ;-). As the late, great Hunter Thompson said, "I hate to kick a man when he's down, but in Richard Nixon's case I'll make an exception."

If some people have a golden thumb & come out of any situation smelling like a rose, Tristano had a shit finger. Everything he touch got screwed up and smelly, even if it didn't need to.

For a time, Rep. Lee Daniels got Tristano a job at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Tristano was hip-deep in funny dealings on the expansion of UIC into Pilsen. He "left" that positon after things got too hot, but not before leaving his boss, Chancellor Broski, in a weakened condition because of political shenanigans and a minor hiring scandal, that the state board pulled the plug on.

Broski eventually resigned from UIC, but only after an unrelated, minor matter ;-) -- the federal government suspended research contracts with the university because of concerns about ethics with human subjects in medical research projects. Little things like giving Polish and Latino speaking subjects the ethics statements and possible side effects of their research in English.

He did what he was supposed to do at UIC, & I'm sure he was only doing what he was supposed to do out of Daniel's office. We'll see how long it takes him to flip, if he hasn't already.

Ah, the return of the HOG, Roger Stanley. This is such an egregious abuse of taxpayer money -- I cant even believe the pure arrogance of these people. For those who claim that the Blago people are corrupt, please admit that this level of corruption is well beyond their abilities. You call them amateurs in so many other instances when it comes to knowledge of the workings of Springfield, how could they have such a sophisticated system of corruption while being inept at so many other things at the same time?

For those of you who think that Blagojevich's people did anything close to this -- youre dreaming. Keep the water muddy -- its your only hope.

Oh, by the way, for those who suggest that Blago should get good Illinois people who know how things are run to replace Tusk and Monk, should he get somebody like Tristano? You are fools.

Vanilla has it exactly right. Party will be irrelevant to anyone perceived (the truth won't matter much)as being even a "little" dirty. It appears the Governoor easily meets that threshold. If he does, it will hurt not help that the trials are taking place in campaign season. Anyone, including him will be unbeatable if they can avoid the dirt perception

Well, I've give GRyan one thing (and one thing only): He never pretended NOT to be corrupt!

Is it too much to ask of an Illinois Governor to hire staff that is both honest and knowledgeable about Illinois?

As a republican, I continue to be disgusted by the old guard of the republican party... Lee, George, Tristano, Fawell and who ever is next. I say prosecute the guilty. Continue to clean house.

Rid the party of the arrogent lawless few. As they seem to be out for themselves.

Only then can we rebuild the party.

Our rebuilding efforts, however, are greatly assisted by the arrogent and seemingly lawless Blago Brass and clout heavy insiders who seem to be making the decisions.

Can someone please give me an answer...Duff goes away for 12 years and has to pay $20 mil for not being a minority firm. They did the work but gave misleading info on thier work papers. We have Tony Rezko doing the work (feeding people at Panda Express at O'Hare) however he also gave misleading statements about his minority status.

My questions is, what is the differnce between what they (Duff/Rezko) both did?

As a former staffer of Lee Daniels, though not during the times in question in the indictment, I have no trouble believing the allegations contained in the indictment. However, I do not understand why the investigation has not ensnared Madigan. His blatant use of state employees and resources for political purposes far exceeded anything Daniels ever thought of doing. Madigan invented it for god's sake. His "Issues" staff originally run by Filan was never anything but a bunch of political hacks being paid with state funds to perform political work.

YES!!! 9:34 I coulnd't agree more with your p[osting. As a former "issues" staffer of MJM myself that is pretty much all we did...political work on state time..Madigan and Mapes should be throughly investigated by the feds
